ACL Support was founded with a simple mission…

…to provide some basic Frequently Asked Questions types of resources for individuals navigating the challenging journey of ACL injury and recovery, primarily after choosing a surgical option. The goal is to have some of the most common issues faced by those of us who have been through this easily available in one place. While there is a great deal of content here suggesting medical advice, it’s based on general research, and should be considered as such; not necessarily specific to your diagnosis, prognosis or treatment specifics. Use the information here as general guidelines and to help inform you about potential concerns and topics you can discuss with your own care team.

What’s Here

There will be links to information sites, videos, products, and services. Over time, it’s possible this site could expand to be a more comprehensive services directory, but only if there’s demand for that and the time / cost can be justified. The real goal is to surface some of the most common questions and issues any of us face when first confronted with this challenging injury type.

Surgical and Non-Surgical Options

This site is really about what’s needed when a surgical route is chosen. Whether or not someone is choosing to try to recover from an ACL injury with or without surgery is a potentially deeply complicated, and personal question. This site is not set up to really help with that. There are whole groups / forums dedicated to those facing that choice and those choosing the non-surgical route. But there’s no experience here with that. We’ll try to link to a few key resources that might be able to help though.

Disclaimers / Disclosures

No one working on this site is a doctor or expert in physiotherapy. There is nothing here that should be considered medical advice specific to your situation. In every single choice you might make, you are responsible for checking with your physician / surgeon, physical therapist, parent, whomever… for whatever care choices you may make.

From time to time, some of the links on this site may link to products or services with affiliate links or one day advertising. In the case of any advertising or anything paid to be displayed on the site, those things will be clearly noted. For product links, an affiliate link is where if people buy things through the link, this site could get some small percentage of that or other referral sales. This is not expected to be significant, but may help to pay for the relatively low hosting costs of this basic information site. Nevertheless, this is not a commercial website. It’s a volunteer / hobby effort just to help others as they’ve helped us. No product listings should be considered outright endorsements for particular products. The idea is to show what types of products might be useful for dealing with these injuries. Usually, there will be a variety of brands and models available to deal with various situations. But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. Seeing some of the options can help people learn what types of products might be useful and what kinds of keywords to consider using in search or AI tools.
